The White House Staff Files of Major General Chester V. Clifton document his service as Military Aide to President John F. Kennedy and as Defense Liaison Officer. Nearly one third of Clifton's files contains information on White House ceremonies attended by military personnel. The remainder of the files includes materials relating to an Air Force proposal for a practice weapons range in North Carolina, requests for photographs of the President and his family, and documents relating to the Army physical fitness program.

Chester Victor Clifton Jr. (September 24, 1913 – December 23, 1991) was a Major General in the United States Army and an aide to Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. Clifton was born in Edmonton, Alberta before moving to the United States and settling in Puyallup, Washington. He attended the University of Washington and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a master's degree in Journalism.
